My name is Mon González Ferrán.
In 2010 I officially changed my name to “Mon”, which means “silence” in Gujarati (Mahatma Gandhi’s mother tongue), and “world” in Catalan, the language of my matriliny.
I was born in Salamanca (Spain) on September 5, 1970.
I have been a vegetarian since I became 18 years old.
I studied Economics at the University of Alicante between 1988 and 1993.
I joined the Spanish diplomatic service in 1996. I worked both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the AECID in Madrid, as well as in our Embassies in Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic, the United Kingdom and Tunisia.
Since February 2024 I have retired for health reasons.
My main passions were languages (and I studied the eleven in which this website will be forged) and travel (and I lived in or visited more than fifty countries in Europe, America, Africa and Asia).
My physical Monworld is in Spain, between Madrid and the Cuenca Highlands.
I have a beautiful daughter, and a great life partner.
A first attempt in 2011
At the beginning of 2011 I designed and opened a very rudimentary first website that I discontinued at the end of that year.
Part of the articles that I had uploaded on that website were also in the following blog: https://mongonzalez.blogspot.com/, which I continued to nurture in two separate blogs, one in Spanish (https://latercerarevolucionarabe.blogspot.com/) and another one in English (http://thethirdarabrevolution.blogspot.com/).
A good Palestinian friend from Khan Yunis (Gaza), Ismail Al-Faqawi, had translated my first articles into Arabic and published them in the Arabic magazine A-Hewar of the Al-Hewar al Mutamaddin (Modern Dialogue) Foundation:
- The Saudi ballast: http://www.ahewar.org/debat/show.art.asp?t=0&aid=259694
- Beyond Japan and Libya: http://www.ahewar.org/debat/show.art.asp?aid=260040
- Arab women and moderate Islam: http://www.ahewar.org/debat/show.art.asp?aid=257963
- The Zionist-Ashkenazi ballast: http://www.ahewar.org/debat/show.art.asp?aid=259818
A new website in 2024
Now, already retired, a friend, Mariano Hernández, has designed a website for me that I will slowly nurture in a process tailored to the limitations imposed by my illnesses.
I open it with the desire to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during almost 30 years of professional performance as a Spanish female diplomat.
I will mainly seek to upload analyzes and proposals that I hope will contribute « a grain of sand » in the construction of a better world.
Time will tell.
