My name is Mon González Ferrán.

In 2010 I officially changed my name to “Mon”, which means “silence” in Gujarati (Mahatma Gandhi’s mother tongue), and “world” in Catalan, the language of my matrilineality.

I was born in Salamanca (Spain) on September 5, 1970.

I have been a vegetarian since I became 18 years old.

I studied Economics at the Universities of Alicante, Aachen and Napier-Edinburgh, thourgh the European Trinational Programme, between 1988 and 1993.

I joined the Spanish diplomatic service in 1996. I worked both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the AECID in Madrid, as well as in our Embassies in Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic, the United Kingdom and Tunisia.

Since February 2024 I have retired for health reasons.

My main passions were languages (and I studied the eleven in which this website will be forged) and travelling (and I lived in or visited more than fifty countries in Europe, America, Africa and Asia).

My physical Monworld is in Spain, between Madrid and the Cuenca Highlands.

A first attempt in 2011

At the beginning of 2011 I designed and opened a very rudimentary first website that I discontinued at the end of that year.

Part of the articles that I had uploaded on that website were also in the following blog: https://mongonzalez.blogspot.com/, which I continued to nurture in two separate blogs, one in Spanish (https://latercerarevolucionarabe.blogspot.com/) and another one in English (http://thethirdarabrevolution.blogspot.com/).

A good Palestinian friend from Khan Yunis (Gaza), Ismail Al-Faqawi, had translated my first articles into Arabic and published them in the Arabic magazine A-Hewar of the Al-Hewar al Mutamaddin (Modern Dialogue) Foundation:

A new website in 2024

In 2024, already retired, a friend, Mariano Hernández, designed for me this website which I will slowly nurture in a process tailored to the limitations imposed by my illnesses.

The first draft of the texts will generally be in Spanish-Castilian. From there, I will do the translations using the translation programmes available on the web and then I will polish it manually. I will follow the order in which I learned these languages: English, French, Russian, Arabic, German, Catalan, Italian, Portuguese, Bulgarian and, finally, Basque.

This website was born with the desire, on the one hand, to showcase the artistic production I have produced throughout my life; and, on the other, to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during almost 30 years of professional work as a Spanish female diplomat to certain issues in the field of international relations, with analyses and proposals that will hopefully contribute ‘a grain of sand’ to the construction of a better world.

Time will tell.

Presence on other social networks

My presence on social networks has been very limited until now… In the future I will try to be more active on them…
